A playlist to counter isolation
Given the current climate (at the time of writing, Covid-19 is wreaking havoc on the entire planet), playlists are high in demand, and there’s certainly plenty out there to choose from.
Before the world was firmly in the grip of Covid-19, I had already been working from home a lot in my day job as a freelance web developer, and one thing that always helps me in isolated working conditions is listening to music that possesses a sense of sonic spaciousness.
I’m talking about songs that, when listening through a good pair of headphones, make your ears feel like they are drifting gradually outwards, as your headspace becomes a vast plain for the composition to play out in. Little by little, you forget that you are sitting at your desk in your living room.

I’ve put together a playlist of music that has this transportative effect on me, in the hope that it might do the same for you. It includes music from Blade Runner (1982), Boards of Canada, Massive Attack, John Martyn, Philip Glass, Ravi Shankar, Led Zeppelin, Roxy Music and more.
Happy sonic travels!
